Purpose – The purpose of this site is to educate the public about different wellness treatment options in Simcoe County, Ontario, and to provide general advice and suggestions for better health. How does that benefit you as the practitioner? Providing helpful information can be far more effective to promote your business than writing directly about yourself.

Article length – Please limit your article to 500 words (give or take).

Tone of voice – The style of writing on this blog is down-to-earth, conversational and friendly. Pretend you’re chatting with a good friend who came for your help and expertise.

Style guidelines

  • Define any terms that the general reader may not be familiar with. The first time you use any acronyms or abbreviations, write them out, e.g., CAM (complementary and alternative medicine) practitioners.
  • At the end of each sentence, use a single space only.
  • Use straight (not curly) quotation marks and apostrophes.
  • Avoid using the ampersand (&). Use the word “and” instead, unless the ampersand is part of a formal name.
  • Do not use the serial comma between the last two items in a list. INCORRECT: A goal should be measurable, meaningful, and motivating. CORRECT: A goal should be measurable, meaningful and motivating. NOTE: Sometimes, for clarity, it’s wise to use the serial comma and I will make the final decision about that.

Suggested article topics

What is… – You may submit a general, “What is…” article about your treatment modality. NOTE: Since only one “What is…” article will be published per modality, try to take a very specialized approach, e.g., we may have an article about chiropractic care for kids, one about chiropractic care in general and another about chiropractic care for pets.

Specific treatment approaches – A naturopath may choose to write something about traditional Chinese medicine, or a physiotherapist may write something about laser therapy. Don’t try to cover everything in one article. Give yourself more opportunities to come back and submit more articles!

Specific conditions – Do you work with clients who are dealing with pain, pregnancy, headaches, depression, addiction, chronic fatigue, chemical sensitivities or other issues? Write about some of the symptoms they come in with, and how you address them. You may also want to submit a client story, or the name of a client willing to be interviewed (see below).

Client story – Write a success story about a particular client and how you helped that person on their wellness journey. Or submit their name and I will interview them and write the story for you. Either way, you will be featured as the practitioner and I will include a link back to your site.

Before submitting your article, please review and sign this Wellness Blogs Contributor Agreement.
